REL Planar PL-1 & PL-2

REL Acoustics introduced a new line of active subwoofers designed for hi-fi and home theater systems in which a conventional floor-standing box can be awkward both acoustically and visually. The new range consists of two models, the PL-1 and PL-2, both of which can be mounted directly on the wall, much like a decorative panel or framed picture. This is not simply another variation on the familiar subwoofer placed in the corner of a room, but an attempt to rethink where low frequencies can come from in a domestic audio system. REL has built much of its reputation on subwoofers intended not only for home theater, but also for ambitious stereo systems, and Planar is aimed at a very specific set of needs - deeper bass, better integration with interior design, greater installation flexibility and less intrusion into everyday living space.

iFi Audio ZEN Air DAC 2, ZEN Air Phono 2 & ZEN Air Blue 2

iFi Audio has refreshed one of its most accessible product families with three new ZEN Air 2 devices, each designed to solve a different and very common problem in everyday music listening. The ZEN Air DAC 2 is a compact digital-to-analog converter with a headphone amplifier, aimed primarily at people who listen from a computer, play games, watch movies or work at a laptop and want a clear upgrade over a standard audio output without building a large system. The ZEN Air Phono 2 is a phono preamplifier for MM and MC cartridges, allowing a turntable to be connected to an amplifier, active speakers or another component that lacks a suitable phono input. The ZEN Air Blue 2 serves a different purpose again. It is a Bluetooth receiver that allows a traditional amplifier, stereo system or pair of active speakers to gain wireless playback from a phone, tablet or computer. Together, the three models form a simple, affordable and compact route to upgrading an existing system without replacing its core components. In other words, iFi is not offering one universal box that tries to do everything, but three specialized tools - one for headphones, one for vinyl and one for Bluetooth streaming - each aimed at one of the most familiar weak points in home audio.

Wharfedale Heritage Centre

Wharfedale expanded its Heritage Series with the introduction of the Heritage Centre, a dedicated centre-channel loudspeaker designed to integrate seamlessly with models such as the Linton, Super Linton, Super Denton, Dovedale and Aston in multichannel home cinema systems. Developed in response to growing demand from users building AV setups around Wharfedale's retro-inspired stereo speakers, the new model brings the tonal character and driver architecture of the Heritage range into the crucial dialogue channel position at the front of a surround system.

Musical Fidelity M6xi

Musical Fidelity has introduced the M6xi, a new integrated amplifier that updates one of the company's longest-running high-power platforms with expanded digital connectivity and broader system-integration capabilities while preserving the core analog architecture that defined the earlier M6si. Rather than replacing the established concept behind the M6 series, the new model represents part of Musical Fidelity's wider "xi" generation refresh, which brings HDMI ARC, USB-C audio connectivity, and improved installation flexibility across several amplifier lines including the M2, M3, and M5 models.

Avid Velsonic

Avid HiFi has introduced the Velsonic, a new reference-level phono preamplifier positioned as the flagship of the company's analog electronics lineup and its first completely new phono stage platform since 2012. Developed and manufactured at Avid's Cambridgeshire facility, the Velsonic replaces both the Pulsare II and Pellere models while carrying forward circuit concepts derived from the company's Reference Pre-Amplifier, signaling a broader refresh of its upper-tier analog architecture. Rather than pursuing a hybrid or digitally assisted topology, the Velsonic follows a strictly analog design philosophy built around a fully dual-mono signal path from input to output. Separate channel layouts are intended to maximize channel separation and reduce crosstalk, while the absence of digital control circuitry reflects Avid's long-standing preference for preserving signal purity in low-level phono applications. According to the manufacturer, particular attention has been paid to minimizing noise throughout the gain structure, an area especially critical in high-resolution MC cartridge systems.

Quad Platina CDT

Quad has expanded its flagship Platina electronics series with the introduction of the Platina CDT, a dedicated CD transport designed to complete the company's current top-tier component lineup alongside the Platina Integrated amplifier and Platina Stream network player. Positioned as the digital transport partner within this range, the new model reflects continued interest in high-quality optical-disc playback among listeners who rely on external DAC stages and want a purpose-built source component engineered specifically for accurate data retrieval rather than integrated conversion.

Ophidian Skye

Ophidian has introduced the Skye, a new floorstanding loudspeaker that expands the British manufacturer's S-series with a model intended to combine full-range performance, compact domestic proportions, and a more traditional furniture-grade finish. Designed and assembled in the UK, the new speaker joins the standmount Seren as the second entry in this mid-priced range, giving Ophidian a floorstander for listeners who want deeper bass and greater scale without moving into the company's higher-tier Incanto and Voodoo lines.

Mission 778CDT

Mission has expanded its compact 778 Series with the introduction of the 778CDT, a dedicated CD transport designed to complete the lineup alongside the 778X integrated amplifier and the recently announced 778S music streamer. The new model is aimed at listeners who still rely on physical digital media and want a purpose-built transport that can make the most of an external DAC or an amplifier with digital inputs, rather than a conventional all-in-one CD player. In that sense, the 778CDT is not just a matching accessory for the rest of the series, but a sign that Mission sees continued value in CD playback as part of a modern hi-fi system.

iFi Audio ZEN Stream 3

iFi Audio is continuing to develop its compact ZEN line with the introduction of the ZEN Stream 3, a dedicated network transport designed for users who already own a DAC and want the cleanest, most stable possible digital signal to bring high-resolution streaming into an existing hi-fi system. The new model builds on the original ZEN Stream concept, but combines updated hardware with a newer streaming engine and expanded software support, while remaining firmly focused on one job only - delivering music from the network to an external DAC.

iFi Audio GO link 2

iFi Audio has introduced the GO link 2, a new version of its compact USB dongle DAC designed for users who want a quick and effective way to improve the sound quality of a laptop or smartphone without rebuilding an entire system. The idea is to retain everything that made the first generation successful while delivering a more noticeable step forward in both measured performance and day-to-day functionality. Like its predecessor, the GO link 2 bypasses the basic integrated audio stages found in most computers and mobile devices, taking over the digital-to-analogue conversion process itself so that even an ordinary notebook or phone can become a genuinely usable source for more demanding headphones.
