Harman Kardon Luna 2

Harman Kardon has introduced the Luna 2, a compact wireless speaker that continues the brand's familiar way of approaching the lifestyle audio segment. Instead of presenting another purely technical Bluetooth speaker built around ruggedness or raw output figures, the company is clearly aiming at a product that can function as part of the home environment first and as a portable speaker second. The new model is intended for everyday listening in spaces such as the living room, kitchen, terrace or garden, combining a small footprint with a more refined visual identity and a feature set that goes beyond simple Bluetooth playback.

According to the official specification, the Luna 2 supports Bluetooth 5.4, offers up to 12 hours of battery life and adds both Auracast multi-speaker connectivity and built-in ambient lighting. Its acoustic layout is based on a 62 x 82 mm woofer and a 20 mm tweeter. At 216 x 84 x 81 mm and 0.735 kg, the Luna 2 is clearly a mobile speaker, but not in the sense of a pocket-sized travel gadget. It looks more like a compact companion designed to move freely from one part of the house to another, or to step outside when needed, without becoming an overtly outdoor-oriented product. Harman Kardon highlights the dual aluminium grilles, the slightly inclined profile and the contoured rear section, which is meant to make the enclosure easier to pick up and carry. The speaker is also rated to IP67 for water and dust resistance, which broadens its practical appeal and gives it enough resilience for casual outdoor use.

One of the main points of differentiation is AI Sound Boost. Harman Kardon describes it as a real-time signal processing system that analyses the incoming audio and continuously adjusts playback parameters in order to improve bass weight, increase dynamic expression and keep distortion under control when the volume rises. In other words, the company is presenting the Luna 2 not simply as a compact speaker with a modern badge on the box, but as a model that uses processing to compensate for the natural physical limits of a small enclosure. That is now a common direction in portable audio, but here it is being framed as a central part of the product rather than a secondary enhancement hidden in the background.

The practical feature set looks just as important as the sound claims. The Luna 2 can connect to two mobile devices at the same time over Bluetooth, which should make everyday sharing easier in situations where more than one person is using the speaker. Auracast support also allows it to work with other compatible speakers in a broader multi-speaker setup. Harman Kardon has additionally included AirTouch, a function that enables two Luna 2 units to be paired in stereo simply by bringing them close together, with the system automatically assigning left and right channels. More detailed control is handled through the Harman Kardon One app, which gives access to EQ settings, lighting personalisation, speaker management and software updates.

An unusual touch for a speaker in this category is the integrated ambient lighting. Harman Kardon says the Luna 2 offers six signature light themes, and these can be customised through the companion app. This may sound like a minor addition, but it reinforces the impression that the Luna 2 is being positioned less as a rough-and-ready portable speaker and more as a compact lifestyle audio product meant to contribute to a room's atmosphere. In that sense, the model sits somewhere between a conventional Bluetooth speaker and a small decorative home audio device, which fits the direction many premium brands have been taking in recent years.

The sustainability angle is also part of the official story. Harman Kardon states that the Luna 2 incorporates post-consumer recycled plastic, recycled aluminium and recycled neodymium in the speaker drivers. The packaging is made from FSC-certified paper and printed with soy ink. None of this changes the core proposition of the product, but it does place the Luna 2 firmly within the now standard premium-electronics language of material recovery, lower-impact packaging and longer-term design relevance. As for pricing, the model is currently listed at €179/$199. Info and photos by Harman Kardon.
