Triangle Capella 2
Triangle Electroacoustique is introducing a new generation of its premium wireless loudspeaker system with the launch of Capella 2, a pair of active bookshelf speakers designed and manufactured in France and supplied with a dedicated network hub. Building on the versatility and musicality of the original Capella concept, the new system aims to offer a more intuitive user experience and a higher level of performance, combining the brand's acoustic know how with modern streaming technologies and fully wireless communication between speakers. The idea is to provide a complete all in one solution that can handle television sound, vinyl and high resolution streaming with equal ease, while remaining compact enough to integrate discreetly into a wide range of living spaces.
At the centre of the system sits the Stereo Hub 2, a new network player and transmitter that uses WiSA technology to create a wireless link to the speakers. All sources connect to this external unit so there are no signal cables between the two cabinets, which simplifies installation and gives more freedom in terms of placement. The hub now offers a broader set of connections than before, including HDMI eARC for television, optical and coaxial digital inputs, USB B for computer audio, USB A, an analogue RCA input and a 3.5 mm mini jack, along with Ethernet for a wired network connection. Streaming is handled over Wi-Fi with support for AirPlay, Chromecast, Spotify Connect Lossless, Tidal Connect and Roon Ready, and Bluetooth 5.2 is available for quick pairing from a smartphone or tablet. A new radio frequency remote control, rechargeable via USB C, and a faster quad core Cortex A53 processor are intended to make day to day control more responsive and convenient.
Capella 2 also adds automatic room calibration, allowing the system to adapt its response to the acoustics of the listening space. Calibration can be carried out via an iOS device or Triangle's optional Zen measurement microphone, and users who want to fine tune the sound further can access a full equaliser within the dedicated Capella app. In combination with the internal digital signal processing this enables quite precise tailoring of tonal balance and bass behaviour, which can be particularly useful in smaller rooms or when the speakers must be placed close to walls. For listeners seeking more low frequency impact there is a dedicated subwoofer output on the Stereo Hub 2 that can be adjusted through the app so that an external subwoofer integrates cleanly with the main speakers.
Inside each Capella 2 cabinet every driver has its own Class D amplifier and digital to analogue converter, delivering 100 watts per speaker under the control of a DSP platform that manages crossover duties, protects the drivers and keeps performance within intended limits. Triangle's DVAS internal bracing system is used to reduce cabinet vibrations and the enclosure has a curved profile with a structured silicone trim to minimise diffraction and other parasitic effects. A downward firing bass reflex port helps to distribute low frequencies more evenly in the room while avoiding unwanted emphasis on vocals. According to the technical data the two way design covers a bandwidth from 42 Hz to 22 kHz within plus or minus 3 dB, with each enclosure measuring 200 by 315 by 380 mm and weighing 8.5 kg.
The driver complement reflects Triangle's long standing design choices. High frequencies are handled by the TZ2530MG horn loaded tweeter, which uses a 25 mm magnesium aluminium dome and is intended to give a wide and even dispersion pattern so that the tonal balance remains consistent across the listening area. Midrange and bass come from a 165 mm woofer with a cone made from natural cellulose pulp, a material the company has favoured for many years for its neutral and uncoloured reproduction of voices. The driver uses a ventilated aluminium chassis and a half roll surround combining foam and treated rubber, designed to produce an open midband with good dynamic expression and a generous sense of weight in the low end.
Visually Capella 2 is positioned as a piece of contemporary furniture as much as a hi-fi product. The cabinets are finished in high quality lacquer and set off by champagne anodised aluminium accents, with five colour options intended to suit different interiors. The range now comprises English Green, Oak veneer, Astral Blue, Space White and Space Black, allowing the system to stand out or blend in depending on the chosen finish. Triangle recommends pairing the speakers with its S05 stands, which are available in matching colours, and notes that the Capella 2 system can be complemented by the Lunar 3 turntable for a fully harmonised vinyl and streaming set up. The package price for Capella 2, including the two active speakers, Stereo Hub 2 and accessories, is listed at €2,499, with availability planned for early 2026. Info and photos by Triangle.
