Audio Pro W-Generation
Audio Pro, the award-winning Scandinavian audio brand known for redefining what compact speakers can do, is opening a new chapter in wireless sound for the US and international markets. Following the rollout of its W-Generation speaker range, the company is now introducing W-Generation versions of its most powerful models, Drumfire II W and Drumfire D-2 W, completing a family that refreshes almost every aspect of the Audio Pro experience, from the control app and streaming platform to the core sound signature and industrial design. Positioned as a complete evolution rather than a minor refresh, the W-Generation is designed to offer a smarter, more robust multiroom platform, a more powerful and refined acoustic performance and a cleaner, more unified aesthetic across the line.
At the centre of the W-Generation launch is a completely renewed software backbone. Under the hood, the range introduces a major app update that significantly expands control, reliability and connectivity. The interface has been redesigned for intuitive setup and day-to-day use, while advanced EQ now gives users much finer control over the tonal balance of each speaker. Streaming support has been broadened to include services such as Spotify, Tidal, Amazon Music, Qobuz, Deezer, iHeartRadio, Napster, TuneIn and more, allowing the system to slot into existing listening habits without workarounds. Improvements in Wi-Fi timing synchronisation and multiroom grouping are aimed at delivering tighter, more stable playback across several rooms, with more robust connectivity and better troubleshooting tools built in. Firmware is updated over-the-air, directly via the app, so both the platform and the speakers continue to evolve after purchase.
For Audio Pro, this software work is as central to the W-Generation as the hardware itself. "We've worked hard on refreshing our entire range, listening to consumer feedback while adding new functionality to our classic sound" says Henrik Dunér, CTO of Audio Pro. "This is a new era of what a wireless speaker should be". Nils Ankarcrona, CEO of Audio Pro, adds that "you're not just getting new features, you're getting a new, streamlined listening experience", highlighting the importance of a rock solid app and seamless multiroom performance for today's consumers. He notes that "The Drumfire II W launch is the last of our W-generation launches, and makes it possible for us to offer our entire range in this new improved W-generation; a generation offering improved sound, a new app and refined design". All W-Generation speakers remain backward-compatible with existing Audio Pro models, which means current owners can integrate new products into their home setups without replacing their entire system.
Alongside the platform overhaul comes a reworked acoustic identity. The W-Generation introduces an updated Audio Pro sound that is described as modern, dynamic and tailored to listeners who want genuine hi-fi qualities from all-in-one speakers. Engineering efforts have focused on clarity, lower distortion and significantly higher maximum output. The flagship A48 W, for example, offers a 10-15 dB increase in maximum sound pressure and improved BMR tweeter clarity, while the compact A15 W gains deeper, fuller bass and extended battery life. Across the range, the aim has been to deliver a presentation that remains immersive, powerful and musical even at high volume, with enough refinement to satisfy more demanding listeners. As Dunér explains, "our goal wasn't to tweak the sound. It was to rethink it from the ground up, tackling the full audio spectrum and get the most musical sound from our small form factors".
The visual aspect of the W-Generation has been treated with equal care. Audio Pro's design team has used the opportunity to unify the look and feel of the range, building a stronger visual identity that still respects the brand's established silhouettes. The new models feature harmonised colours and logo placement, synchronised grille fabrics, refined metal details and enhanced logo badges for a more coherent appearance. Subtle revisions to back plates, button panels and surface textures reflect the brand's attention to small but meaningful details. The iconic forms of products such as the compact cylinders and slender floorstanders remain recognisable, yet every component has been visually refined so that individual speakers and multiroom sets feel like parts of a single, cohesive family. Select models are also offered in a walnut finish, adding a warmer, natural tone to the palette and broadening their appeal in interior design terms.
The W-Generation line-up encompasses refreshed versions of Audio Pro's most popular speakers. The range includes the A10 MkII W and A15 W, the A28 W, A38 W and flagship A48 W, as well as the C5 MkII W, C10 MkII W and C20 W for more traditional stereo and media setups. For those seeking an even more muscular performance, the Drumfire II W and Drumfire D-2 W models sit at the top of the family, delivering higher-impact sound suitable for larger rooms or more energetic listening sessions. The new C20 W and A48 W in particular exemplify the W-Generation's ambition, combining the updated platform with the reimagined sound signature and refined design language, while the Drumfire models bring that same platform to Audio Pro’s most extrovert, rock-and-roll oriented speakers.
Within this line-up, Drumfire II W takes the role of the full-size, statement system for listeners who value physical impact as much as finesse. Sometimes nothing beats loud, and Drumfire II W is voiced to deliver a bold, confident sound with super-crisp detail, so that every element of the music can be felt as well as heard. At the same time, the engineering focus on control and timing means it remains engaging at lower levels, bringing life to late-night listening without losing its sense of presence. Drumfire II W offers full multiroom listening and support for Google Cast, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect. The speaker firmware, working together with the new Audio Pro app, provides precise Wi-Fi timing synchronisation and access to a wide range of streaming services, while automatic over-the-air firmware updates ensure the system stays current without manual intervention. Six preset buttons on the unit give instant access to favourite playlists and radio stations, so users can simply press and play without reaching for their phones.
Drumfire II W also expresses the W-Generation design language in a more extrovert form. Its aesthetic is classic rock ’n’ roll, but with a sophisticated twist - the cabinet is wrapped in faux leather, with hand-stitched threads and solid aluminium details that lift the look beyond the purely utilitarian. Available in soft white, stylish grey or classic black, it is intended to blend naturally into a variety of interiors while still looking every bit the part as the system’s main event. The multiroom function allows owners to group Drumfire II W with other W-Generation speakers for whole-home listening, or to pair two units in a left/right configuration for a full concert-style stereo experience.
Drumfire D-2 W serves as the top unit of the Drumfire II W system but is also a powerful standalone speaker in its own right. On its own it delivers a punchy, full-range performance with deep, controlled bass and crisp highs, and it offers the same multiroom capabilities and streaming options as its bigger sibling, including Google Cast, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect. Like Drumfire II W, it benefits from the updated app, Wi-Fi timing synchronisation and access to a broad roster of streaming services. When Drumfire D-2 W is combined with the matching subwoofer in the complete Drumfire II W configuration, the system automatically adjusts the crossover so that the subwoofer takes over the deepest bass. This division of labour allows the system to play even louder and with greater composure, particularly in larger rooms or more demanding musical material.
The pricing for the W-Generation has been set to span a wide range of systems and room sizes. The A10 MkII W is priced at $250, with the A15 W at $400. The A28 W comes in at $600, or $650 in its walnut finish, while the larger A38 W is priced at $900. The flagship A48 W is available at $1,200, rising to $1,300 for the walnut version. On the more compact side, the C5 MkII W is priced at $300, the C10 MkII W at $400 and the C20 W at $600, or $650 in walnut. Drumfire D-2 W is priced at £350, €400 and $400, while Drumfire II W is offered at £600, €700 and $700. With full backward compatibility and a unified app experience across the board, the W-Generation is positioned as a comprehensive ecosystem rather than a set of isolated products.
