HEDD Audio HEDDphone Two Unplugged
HEDD Audio has expanded its headphone line-up with HEDDphone Two Unplugged and HEDDphone Two GT Unplugged, new cable-free editions designed for experienced listeners who already own their preferred aftermarket cables. Both models retain the full-range Air Motion Transformer sound that defines the HEDDphone series and are supplied simply as headphones with a carrying case, omitting the standard cable set to remove redundancy and offer a more focused, better-value package. The concept is to deliver the complete sonic performance of the regular HEDDphone models for users who want to integrate them directly into existing high-end cabling solutions.
The Unplugged versions are built around the same proprietary full-range AMT driver architecture as the standard HEDDphone Two and Two GT, with each unit designed and manufactured in Berlin using identical materials and construction methods. HEDD's driver is positioned as the fourth distinct headphone transducer technology, following the historical development of dynamic designs in the 1930s, electrostatics in the late 1950s and planar magnetics in the early 1970s. In line with the rest of the HEDDphone range, the AMT unit is intended to offer a wideband, fast and highly resolving presentation that remains consistent across the audible spectrum, forming the core of the listening experience regardless of which cable the user chooses to employ.
Visually and physically the Unplugged models remain closely aligned with their standard counterparts, differing mainly in supplied accessories and earpad configuration. HEDDphone Two Unplugged is fitted with PU vegan earpads, while the Two GT Unplugged comes with velour pads, both specified for long-term comfort during extended sessions. The package contents are deliberately kept essential: just the headphone itself and its case. For those who prefer a turnkey solution, the regular HEDDphone Two and Two GT with the full cable set continue in the range, while optional HEDD cables are available separately via participating dealers for users who want a manufacturer-matched connection without purchasing the standard bundle.
Positioning within the line-up mirrors the standard models. HEDDphone Two Unplugged is presented as a tool for audio engineers and producers who need fast, reliable translation when mixing and mastering, with a tuning aimed at speed, detail and control. HEDDphone Two GT Unplugged takes the analytical clarity of the Two and shifts the focus slightly towards a warmer voicing and a more luxurious comfort experience, making it particularly suitable for immersive music listening and long enjoyment-oriented sessions, while still being precise enough for critical work where required. In both cases the absence of an included cable is intended not as a limitation but as an acknowledgement that many advanced users already have a preferred choice of terminations, materials and lengths.

Every HEDDphone Unplugged is backed by a five-year warranty, a term that reflects the company's view of precision audio equipment as a long-term investment rather than a disposable item. Repairability remains part of the design philosophy, with an emphasis on long-term usability and serviceability rather than sealed, non-serviceable construction. Founded in 2015 by Klaus Heinz, a long-time loudspeaker designer closely associated with the modern development of Air Motion Transformer technology, HEDD Audio is an independent company based in Berlin. The team of around 15 specialists spans audio engineering, production, quality control and operations, with all products designed and manufactured in Germany. The brand's stated goal is to pursue the highest possible fidelity and to continue pushing the boundaries of contemporary audio design in both studio monitors and headphones.
