Piega Premium
Once again, mastermind Kurt Scheuch's research and development team have succeeded in making the already very illustrious aluminum columns and bookshelf loudspeakers even more audiophile. A step forward has also been made in aesthetic terms. In order to refine the appearance, Swiss designer Stephan Hürlemann has fitted the front covers flush into the C-shaped cabinet profile, creating a formal harmony that fits perfectly into every room.
Whether with voice, orchestra, electro or single instrument, the Piega Premium Series operates at its best to guarantee an inspiring sound experience. First and foremost, it is the combination of state-of-the-art chassis technology and the 30% more rigid aluminum cabinet, which helps the new Premium trio achieve this wonderful sound quality. While the two smaller models use the tried and tested Piega LDR 2642 MKII tweeters, the Premium 701 flagship range uses the new LDR 3056 ribbon tweeters for the first time. In addition, the low mid-range driver has also been improved in several respects and has been specially calibrated to the new cabinet and ribbon tweeters.
The MDS converters designed for particularly long-stroke movements ensure an impulsive, dynamic and powerful bass performance, even in medium-sized rooms. Thanks to a rounded cabinet shape, no disturbing standing waves can occur within the cabinet, so that a clear, contoured, crisp transmission of all medium and low frequencies is ensured. Base plates with spikes have been introduced to the column loudspeakers to prevent interfering frequencies, which further contributes to an increase in pure sound reproduction.
The Premium 701 uses the new LDR 3056 ribbon tweeter for the first time. Its thin membrane has a newly developed suspension and is perfectly controlled by mass-free damping. Thanks to the optimized magnet system and a new foil layout, the tweeter offers higher efficiency, greater bandwidth, and linearity. The enormous development and production costs pay off in the sound and the audible result is the fine resolution and the precise representation of each individual tone. Two 140mm MDS converters cater for the bass, one of the two also handles mid-tone emission. The Premium 701 can operate in almost any room thanks to its dynamic and powerful sound.
The Premium 501 is an extremely slim column loudspeaker, which is only 16 cm wide and one meter tall is the perfect partner for high-quality hi-fi systems in small to medium-sized rooms. The two long-stroke 120mm MDS low mid-range drivers and the tried and tested LDR 2642 MKII ribbon, already praised in numerous test reviews, help the Piega Premium 501 to achieve a homogenous, very detailed and spatial sound with modest dimensions.
The Premium 301 is a compact loudspeaker with a baffle about the size of an A4 sheet. Behind the removable fabric cover, a 140mm MDS low mid-range driver and the LDR 2642 MKII ribbon tweeter ensure homogeneous transmission of all frequencies from 39 to 50 kHz. Whether on the shelf, on a sideboard or on a stand - the Piega Premium 301 is an illustrious and elegant sound transducer for small to medium-sized rooms. Piega offers first-class service and six years warranty on all loudspeakers, as well as three years on the electronics. Info and photos by Piega.
