Marantz is refreshing the entry point to its traditional hi-fi range with two full-size components - the Model 70 integrated amplifier and the matching CD 70 player. The new duo follows in the footsteps of the popular PM6007 and CD6007, but the transition involves considerably more than a change of model numbers. Both products adopt the visual language previously associated with more expensive Marantz components, while the amplifier gains HDMI ARC, two-way Bluetooth connectivity and a revised amplification section. The CD player, meanwhile, combines conventional disc playback with high-resolution files from USB storage.

YBA is a French high-end audio manufacturer founded by Yves-Bernard Andre and known for electronics designed around a distinctive approach to musicality, circuit layout and component selection. The French manufacturer describes it as the world's first travel-ready SACD player, combining a top-loading disc mechanism, headphone amplifier, DAC functionality and line-level outputs in a compact device measuring 188 x 166 x 40 mm and weighing 1.34 kg. The concept is unusual because it brings together two separate trends - the return of interest in portable CD players and the renewed attention being paid to SACD collections.

The return of physical media is no longer limited to vinyl. CDs are also finding a new audience, especially among younger listeners who want ownership, artwork, a tangible collection and a break from the endless scroll of streaming apps. Shanling's EC Play fits directly into that moment. It is a compact portable CD player designed not as a retro curiosity, but as a modern disc player with wired and wireless headphone support, USB DAC functionality and enough battery life to make portable CD listening feel practical again.

The new D-100 Centennial, created to mark the Japanese company's 100th anniversary, shows how far the brand is still willing to take SACD and CD playback while also turning the player into a reference-class DAC for modern high-resolution sources. As the successor to the D-10X, it is not merely an anniversary edition with a special nameplate, but a comprehensively redesigned flagship source component with a new disc transport, renewed digital processing, an updated analog output stage and the latest version of Luxman's LIFES feedback engine.

Ruark Audio has introduced two new products that fit neatly into the current move toward hi-fi systems combining several once-separate worlds - physical media, streaming, furniture-like design and a more integrated approach to home audio. The British company, which celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2026, has presented the R710 Music Console and the Talisman-R floorstanding speakers. Together, they form a complete stereo system in which the listener gets amplification, streaming, CD playback, turntable support and a pair of passive speakers designed to match the electronics both technically and visually.

Quad has expanded its flagship Platina electronics series with the introduction of the Platina CDT, a dedicated CD transport designed to complete the company's current top-tier component lineup alongside the Platina Integrated amplifier and Platina Stream network player. Positioned as the digital transport partner within this range, the new model reflects continued interest in high-quality optical-disc playback among listeners who rely on external DAC stages and want a purpose-built source component engineered specifically for accurate data retrieval rather than integrated conversion.

Mission has expanded its compact 778 Series with the introduction of the 778CDT, a dedicated CD transport designed to complete the lineup alongside the 778X integrated amplifier and the recently announced 778S music streamer. The new model is aimed at listeners who still rely on physical digital media and want a purpose-built transport that can make the most of an external DAC or an amplifier with digital inputs, rather than a conventional all-in-one CD player. In that sense, the 778CDT is not just a matching accessory for the rest of the series, but a sign that Mission sees continued value in CD playback as part of a modern hi-fi system.

Michi is Rotel's luxury sub-brand, positioned from the outset as the more ambitious and more overtly audiophile branch of the company's catalogue. Its components have typically stood out for their carefully judged industrial design, high power output, refined internal architecture and a strong emphasis on build quality, so the arrival of the new Prestige Series feels like a logical next step in the brand's development. With this new range, Michi appears to be opening the door to a broader group of listeners. Two components join the portfolio at launch - the X430 integrated amplifier and the Q430 CD player. Both are presented as products that bring together the engineering discipline, visual sophistication and key technologies associated with more expensive Michi designs, but at a lower entry point. That sends a fairly clear message about where the brand wants to go next - preserving its high-end identity while creating a more realistic way in for listeners who may previously have admired the Michi catalogue from a distance rather than from a buying position.
