Jamo Hyg

The name is more than a decorative reference. "Hygge" is often used to describe a feeling created by soft light, simple materials, relaxed interiors and time spent comfortably with others. Jamo is translating that idea into a family of wireless speakers that are not meant to look like technical accessories dropped into the room at the last moment. Fabric coverings, softened shapes, warm lighting and restrained colors all play a role here, but the range is not based only on appearance. Each model has its own acoustic layout, battery or power concept and feature set, which makes the Hyg series more varied than a typical line of Bluetooth speakers scaled from small to large.

Hyg Flex is the leading model in the range and the one designed for broader, more powerful sound. It is a desktop Bluetooth speaker with a 2-way vented-box architecture, using two 25-mm angled tweeters and one 127-mm woofer. Jamo says the angled tweeters are used to create a stereo image that extends beyond the speaker itself, while the woofer is intended to give the presentation a more grounded low-frequency foundation. The published specifications list a frequency response of 46 Hz - 20 kHz, a 2.5-kHz crossover frequency and a maximum SPL of 96 dB. Amplification power is rated at 56 W RMS when the speaker is running from AC power and 28 W RMS in battery mode.

That distinction between AC and battery operation says quite a lot about the intended role of Hyg Flex. It is portable in the sense that it can be moved easily from one place to another, but it is not merely a small outdoor speaker. With a woven textile finish, a soft cylindrical form and a handle that folds away when not needed, it is designed to live in the home, move from the living room to the kitchen or terrace, and then settle visually into the space. Battery life is specified at up to 7 hours, while charging through the AC port takes 3 hours. The speaker measures 249.1 x 250.2 x 193 mm without the handle and weighs 3.3 kg, which makes it transportable rather than pocketable.

Connectivity on Hyg Flex includes Bluetooth 6.0 and Aux-in, with codec support for SBC, AAC and LC3. Auracast compatibility allows the speaker to be paired with other Jamo Auracast-enabled models for wider playback around the home or stereo use. Jamo emphasizes that no app is required for this kind of pairing, which fits the general character of the series - practical, direct and not overloaded with setup procedures. Hyg Flex is also splash-proof, with an IPX2 rating, so it can handle occasional use on a terrace or in a kitchen, though it is clearly not the waterproof model in the family.

The ambient light built into Hyg Flex is another part of the product's domestic character. It has selectable brightness levels and can be used as a soft visual element in the room rather than just a status light. Jamo describes it as a kind of candle-like glow, brighter when people gather and dimmer when the evening winds down. That may sound like a lifestyle detail, but in the context of a speaker inspired by hygge, it is central to how the product is meant to be used - as something that contributes to the atmosphere of a room even when it is not being treated as a hi-fi component.

Hyg Flow takes the series outside. It is a portable waterproof Bluetooth speaker developed for outdoor gatherings, travel and everyday use away from a fixed listening position. Its shape is much slimmer than Hyg Flex, and the built-in braided cord handle reinforces the idea of a speaker that is meant to be picked up almost without thinking. It measures 141.5 x 182.9 x 41.8 mm including the handle and weighs 0.6 kg, so it is the most obviously mobile model in the lineup.

The acoustic system in Hyg Flow uses two 38-mm full-range drivers and two passive radiators. Power is rated at 2 x 5 W RMS, with peak output of 2 x 10 W, and the frequency response is specified at 66 Hz - 20 kHz. Jamo says the tuning focuses on clear stereo sound, vocal intelligibility and immersive listening in open spaces. This makes sense for a product that is likely to be used not only for music, but also for podcasts, radio and audiobooks in environments where background noise and distance from the speaker can easily blur voices.

Durability is one of the key differences between Hyg Flow and Hyg Flex. Flow has an IPX7 waterproof rating and uses nano-coated fabric designed to resist water, sweat and oil. Battery life is also much longer, at up to 27 hours, with charging through USB-C taking 3 hours. Connectivity is wireless only, based on Bluetooth 6.0 with SBC, AAC and LC3 codec support. Like Flex, Hyg Flow is compatible with other Jamo Auracast-enabled speakers, so two units can be paired or used as part of a wider broadcast. Jamo presents this as a simple one-tap function rather than a system requiring an additional app.

The third model, Hyg Reflect, is different again. It is not designed for the garden, the terrace or a picnic blanket, but for the bedroom. Jamo calls it a Bluetooth clock speaker, and that description is accurate because it combines wireless audio, a clock, alarm functions, ambient lighting and charging in a single compact device. It measures 76 x 199 x 105 mm and weighs 0.78 kg, so it is closer in scale to a bedside clock radio than a conventional wireless speaker.

Hyg Reflect uses two 51-mm full-range drivers and two passive radiators, with amplification rated at 2 x 10 W RMS and 2 x 20 W peak. Its frequency response is specified at 82 Hz - 20 kHz. In purely audio terms, it is the smallest and least full-range model in the series, but that is not the point of the design. Reflect is intended to sit within arm's reach and provide balanced sound at low to moderate volume, with enough body to avoid sounding thin on a bedside table. Jamo also says the speaker is tuned according to its position relative to the listener, which matters in a bedroom, where placement is usually dictated by furniture rather than ideal acoustics.

The feature set of Hyg Reflect is built around daily rhythm rather than portability. It includes alarm, sleep timer, snooze and 12/24-hour clock modes, plus selectable ambient light levels. Charging is available wirelessly and through USB-C, allowing the speaker to reduce clutter on a bedside table by giving a phone a fixed place to rest. Bluetooth 6.0 is supported, with SBC and AAC codecs, and there is also a 3.5-mm input for wired sources.

One of the more distinctive features of Hyg Reflect is the inclusion of three original ambient soundscapes. The tracks are called Golden Hour, Daybreak and Moonlight Echo, and are designed to loop seamlessly, creating a softer background for rest, reading or waking up. This is where the Hyg concept becomes most literal. Reflect is not only a speaker for playing music, but a small object intended to shape the atmosphere around the beginning and end of the day.

Across the series, Jamo is clearly separating the three models by use rather than simply by price. Hyg Flex is the most powerful and home-oriented model, with the largest driver system, AC and battery operation, ambient lighting, Aux-in and Auracast. Hyg Flow is the travel model, with IPX7 waterproofing, 27-hour battery life, lower weight and a shape made for carrying. Hyg Reflect is the bedside model, with lighting, alarm functions, charging and embedded soundscapes. The common thread is the use of fabric, soft forms, Bluetooth 6.0 and a design language that tries to make wireless audio feel more domestic and less gadget-like.

All three models will launch globally in July 2026. Hyg Flex will be available in Dark Grey and Light Grey and is priced at €279/£239/$279.
