Harman Kardon Aura Studio 5 Wi-Fi

Harman Kardon revealed the Aura Studio 5 Wi-Fi, a new wireless speaker that develops one of the most recognizable lines in the company's catalog. The Aura Studio series has always stood apart from typical home speakers not only because of its sound, but also because of its form. Its transparent dome and lighting effects were never just decorative extras, but part of the product's identity from the beginning. In the latest version, Harman Kardon takes that idea further, combining the familiar design with Wi-Fi connectivity, support for popular streaming systems, multi-room operation, Bluetooth 6.0 and a more elaborate acoustic structure. The Aura Studio 5 Wi-Fi is therefore intended not only as a striking object for the home, but also as a fully fledged network speaker for everyday music listening.

The new model retains the most characteristic elements of the Aura Studio design language. The enclosure combines a transparent dome, metallic accents and a textile-covered base, allowing the speaker to function both as an audio device and as a decorative element of a living space. Ambient lighting remains one of its defining features. In the Aura Studio 5 Wi-Fi, the transparent dome houses a lighting system that generates dynamic effects synchronized with music. The light reacts to the rhythm of the tracks being played, while users can personalize colors and animations through the Harman Kardon One app. In practice, this means the speaker can create a different mood for quiet evening listening than it does when used as a more expressive centerpiece for home entertainment.

The most important functional change is built-in Wi-Fi. This allows the Aura Studio 5 Wi-Fi to stream high-resolution music from multiple services without relying solely on a conventional Bluetooth connection. The speaker is compatible with AirPlay, Google Cast, Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect, making it possible to use popular platforms directly from a phone, tablet or computer. Wi-Fi should also provide a more stable connection and more convenient operation in a home audio system. Multi-room functionality allows several Harman Kardon speakers to be linked into a single system covering an entire living space, so the Aura Studio 5 Wi-Fi can work either on its own or as part of a larger wireless installation.

Sound is handled by a three-way acoustic design using six 40 mm midrange/full-range drivers, one 25 mm tweeter and a 143 mm subwoofer. Total output is rated at 2 x 20 W + 1 x 20 W + 1 x 100 W RMS at 1% THD. Harman Kardon has also used Constant Sound Field technology, which is intended to distribute sound evenly throughout the room. Instead of projecting audio in a narrow, directional way, the Aura Studio 5 Wi-Fi is designed to create a broad, immersive presentation, combining deep bass, a clear midrange and an articulate top end. The specified frequency response is 45 Hz - 20 kHz at -6 dB.

Harman Kardon also highlights the environmental aspect of the design. The Aura Studio 5 Wi-Fi is made partly from post-consumer recycled materials, including plastics and aluminum, reducing the use of newly sourced raw materials. The packaging has also been designed with a lower environmental impact in mind, using FSC-certified paper and printing with soy-based ink. These details are appearing more frequently in lifestyle audio products, especially in categories where design, materials and presentation are all part of the overall user experience. The Harman Kardon Aura Studio 5 Wi-Fi is now available or being rolled out in selected markets, depending on region. European and UK pricing is listed at €380/£350. Some features may require subscriptions or services that are not available in every country. Info and photos by Harman Kardon.
