DALI Sonik

DALI has unveiled Sonik, a new loudspeaker series created to redefine what accessible hi-fi can offer in living rooms and home cinemas. Positioned as the most significant evolution of the brand's mid-priced offerings since the award-winning Oberon range of 2018, Sonik is intended to bring high performance sound, contemporary design and broad usability to music and movie fans who want serious loudspeakers that still fit comfortably into everyday homes. The line is aimed at both seasoned audiophiles looking for strong value and design-focused newcomers taking their first step into higher fidelity systems, carrying forward the role Oberon has played in DALI's catalogue for almost a decade.

With seven models at launch, Sonik is presented as DALI's most comprehensive and forward-looking family in this segment. The range spans ultra-compact standmounts through slim floorstanders to on-wall and dedicated home-cinema units, covering everything from discreet stereo systems to full-scale multichannel installations. Across the board, Sonik draws on technologies and engineering approaches developed for the flagship DALI Kore, Epikore and Epicon lines, distilling advances in transducer design, magnet systems and cabinet construction into a series that remains inviting to own, easy to place and straightforward to drive with real-world amplifiers.

Much of the claimed performance uplift comes from DALI's proprietary driver technologies. High frequencies are handled by a newly developed ultra-light 29 mm soft dome tweeter, designed for low loss, wide dispersion and a particularly coherent upper midrange, mounted on an aluminium faceplate that extends bandwidth and improves loading. In the larger Sonik 7 and Sonik 9 floorstanders this unit is paired with a planar magnetostatic element in DALI's hybrid tweeter system, combining the dynamic punch and presence of the dome with the air and delicacy of a ribbon-like supertweeter to deliver fine detail and wide, even dispersion. Bass and midrange duties fall to low-loss drivers available in 5¼ inch and 7 inch versions, both using the Clarity Cone membrane made from a paper and wood fibre mix that has become a hallmark of the brand for its natural midband and controlled dynamics. At the motor system level, the SMC Essential magnet architecture, derived from the Epicon series, employs a hybrid iron and SMC pole-piece structure to reduce third-order harmonic distortion and improve linearity, bringing a level of refinement more commonly found at higher price points. Dual Flare bass reflex ports, including placement-friendly on-wall and front-firing arrangements in the Sonik On-Wall and Sonik Cinema models, are tuned for low turbulence and precise timing to support clean, extended low frequencies.

The series also introduces a modernised design language that remains clearly identifiable as DALI. Cabinets are constructed from CNC-machined MDF with rigid internal bracing, separate chambers for bass drivers and high-grade vinyl finishes, all aimed at reducing resonance and sharpening timing. Visual details include custom magnetic grilles, sleek aluminium tweeter faceplates, new in-house designed terminals for robust, flexible connectivity and updated logo badges and baffle treatments inspired by the flagship Epikore line. Floorstanding models gain aluminium spike outriggers that enhance stability while giving the speakers a more purposeful stance in the room. Sonik is offered in four finishes – Black Ash, Walnut, Natural Oak and White – to help the speakers integrate visually into a variety of interiors, from minimalist spaces to more traditional living rooms.

Within the line-up, the standmount Sonik 1 is positioned as an ultra-compact, versatile choice for smaller rooms or discreet installations where space is at a premium, while the Sonik 3 offers a larger enclosure and a fuller, richer output suited to stands or shelves. The Sonik 5 is a slim floorstander designed to combine detail and scale in space-conscious environments, the Sonik 7 steps up in drive unit area and hybrid tweeter technology to serve medium to large rooms, and the flagship Sonik 9 uses three 7 inch drivers and the hybrid tweeter system to deliver a more expansive, full-range presentation. For installation-focused applications, Sonik On-Wall provides a slim, wall-mounted solution with a specially engineered on-wall reflex port, whereas Sonik Cinema is conceived as a dedicated home-cinema element with front-firing ports, a rotatable logo and the flexibility to be used horizontally or vertically across left, centre and right positions.

Commenting on the launch, Krestian Pedersen, DALI's Head of Product Management, notes that "DALI makes loudspeakers for everyone, from Kupid to Kore and everything in-between, covering hi-fi, home cinema, wireless speakers and headphones. Our sound and design principles have always been most visible to music fans at the price point that Sonik hits and we believe the range sets a new benchmark in performance for the price. We're excited to launch Sonik worldwide and look forward to attracting even more DALI fans in 2026." Sonik is scheduled for global release on 2 February 2026, with pricing specified per pair for most models and per unit for Sonik Cinema. Indicative recommended retail prices are set at €498/£449/$900 for Sonik 1, €698/£599/$1,200 for Sonik 3, €998/£899/$1,800 for Sonik 5, €1,498/£1,299/$2,800 for Sonik 7, and €2,398/£2,199/$4,500 for Sonik 9. Sonik On-Wall is listed at €650/£599/$1,200 per pair, while Sonik Cinema is priced at €499/£449/$900 per single speaker. Info and photos by DALI.
