GIK Acoustics Bass Trap Panels
GIK Acoustics is expanding its low-frequency treatment lineup with three new deep Bass Trap Panels aimed at rooms where excess bass energy remains one of the hardest problems to control. The new additions - the Classic Bass Trap Panel '60Hz', Amplitude Bass Trap Panel '60Hz', and FlexRange Bass Trap Panel '50Hz' - are designed to deliver stronger absorption lower in the frequency range than the company's existing standard-depth models, addressing standing waves, bass build-up, and the kind of low-end smear that can undermine clarity in studios, listening rooms, home theaters, and other acoustically demanding spaces.
The launch reflects a practical issue familiar to anyone who has tried to tame a room with conventional acoustic panels. While many products can help with reflections and midrange problems, low frequencies often remain stubbornly resistant, especially below 100Hz. According to GIK Acoustics, that is precisely why the company has introduced deeper 20 cm and 22 cm panel options that extend effective absorption down to 60Hz and, in one case, around 50Hz. The manufacturer describes this as the first time a major acoustic treatment brand has offered products of this kind as standard off-the-shelf solutions rather than more specialized or custom installations.
The most straightforward of the three is the Classic Bass Trap Panel '60Hz', a broadband bass absorber built around a 20 cm, 8-inch mineral wool core. GIK states that it can absorb down to around 60Hz and deliver up to 25% better low-frequency performance than the company's 15 cm models. The Amplitude Bass Trap Panel '60Hz' takes that deeper bass-control concept into GIK's more design-oriented hybrid range, combining absorption, scattering, and diffusion while also reaching down to around 60Hz. Here too, the company claims up to 25% greater low-frequency absorption than the 15 cm version.
The most ambitious of the three appears to be the FlexRange Bass Trap Panel '50Hz', based on GIK's patented two-frame FlexRange system. Designed to work down to around 50Hz, it incorporates a built-in air gap and can be configured in Full Range, Range Limiter, or Scatter Plate mode. Compared with GIK's 17 cm models, the company says this version can provide up to 30% better low-frequency absorption, giving users a more flexible tool for controlling bass behavior in rooms where low-end problems are especially severe.
All three models have been independently tested at the University of Salford to BS EN ISO 354:2003 standards. GIK is also emphasizing the practical side of system integration and room design, with more than 20 Camira Cara fabric options available across the range along with multiple sizes and configuration choices. That matters because acoustic treatment is often judged not only by its measured effectiveness, but also by whether it can be integrated into domestic or professional interiors without making the room feel overtly technical.
GIK Acoustics specializes in acoustic treatment products for studios, hi-fi listening rooms, home theaters, and commercial spaces. With more than 20 years of experience, manufacturing in the US and Europe, and a catalog that includes bass traps, acoustic panels, diffusers, and modular treatment systems, the company serves both professional audio users and home listeners looking for measured, room-focused acoustic solutions. Pricing starts at $79/€87/£79 for the Classic Bass Trap Panel '60Hz', $129/€176/£159 for the Amplitude Bass Trap Panel '60Hz', and $99/€110/£99 for the FlexRange Bass Trap Panel '50Hz'.
