Siltech Classic Legend MKII
Cable ranges are rarely about sudden revolutions. In high-end audio, they usually evolve through materials, geometry, shielding, insulation and connector design - the kinds of changes that are not always visible from the outside, but can matter when the whole purpose of the product is to carry a signal with as little interference as possible. Siltech's new Classic Legend MKII series follows exactly that logic. It continues one of the Dutch company's most important cable families, but introduces a deeper internal redesign intended to make the range quieter, more stable and more complete.
The original Classic Legend series has long occupied an important position in Siltech's catalog. It brought key technologies from the company's upper ranges into a more accessible product family, giving listeners a way into Siltech engineering without immediately moving toward the Crown and Master Crown series. Classic Legend MKII keeps that role, but expands it with new construction methods, revised shielding and a broader entry point into the company's silver-gold conductor technology.
At the center of the range remains Siltech's G9 silver-gold metallurgy. This conductor technology is one of the brand's defining solutions, based on the use of silver with a small amount of gold. Siltech says the gold helps fill microscopic irregularities in the silver structure, reducing distortion while preserving tonal purity, timing accuracy and natural musical flow. In cable terms, the point is not to create a particular sound effect, but to preserve the signal more cleanly as it travels through the system.
The MKII generation brings more significant changes around that conductor platform. Siltech has introduced a new generation of carbon-infused shielding, designed to reduce unwanted electrical influence around the signal path. This is one of the more meaningful updates, because shielding is not just a technical footnote in a high-end cable. It affects how well the cable rejects external interference and how quiet the connection remains in a complex system, especially where multiple analog, digital and power cables run close to one another.
The insulation and internal geometry have also been revised. Classic Legend MKII uses advanced air-filled insulation construction, a solution intended to allow the conductor geometry to operate with greater stability and precision. In practical terms, air is an effective dielectric, and using it within the cable structure can help reduce unwanted interaction between the conductor and surrounding insulation. Siltech presents the result as a cable architecture with lower noise behavior, improved spatial information and greater musical realism.
The connector design has been reconsidered as well. The new series uses upgraded connector pin materials and thicker direct nickel-free gold plating. This is a small detail compared with the headline conductor technology, but it makes sense in a range built around signal preservation. A cable is only as consistent as its weakest contact point, and connector quality can affect long-term stability, oxidation behavior and contact resistance. Siltech's stated aim remains simple - to preserve the signal rather than decorate it.
One of the most important structural changes in the lineup is the arrival of the new Classic Legend MKII 280. This model becomes the entry point into the Classic Legend family and replaces the former Explorer series. The change is significant because Explorer used monocrystal copper conductors, while Classic Legend MKII 280 moves to Siltech's proprietary silver-gold platform. That means the new range now begins with what the company considers a true Siltech silver-gold cable, giving users a more direct route into the brand's core conductor technology.
Classic Legend MKII is organized into four levels. The new 280 series is the starting point, designed to deliver the clarity, balance and low-noise behavior expected from the Classic Legend family at a more approachable level. The 380 series forms the central part of the range, intended as a versatile option for a wide variety of high-end systems, with upgraded conductor, shielding and construction performance.
Above that, Classic Legend MKII 680 is aimed at systems where greater scale, control and refinement are needed. This is the level where the cables are positioned not only as a cleaner connection, but as part of a more demanding system architecture in which dynamics, resolution and tonal balance have to coexist naturally. At the top of the family sits Classic Legend MKII 880, the flagship expression of the range and the most advanced Classic Legend option before moving into Siltech's Crown and Master Crown families.
The breadth of the lineup is also important. Classic Legend MKII is not limited to one or two cable types, but forms a complete ecosystem for modern high-end systems. The range includes interconnects, speaker cables, power cables, phono cables, USB cables, network cables and digital connections across the different series levels. This allows users to build a system gradually within the same engineering philosophy rather than mixing unrelated cable families for different parts of the setup.
All Classic Legend MKII cables are handmade in the Netherlands. For Siltech, this is more than a branding point. The company places strong emphasis on material consistency, construction quality and long-term reliability, which are particularly relevant in cables where geometry, shielding, insulation and termination need to remain stable over years of use. The move to MKII therefore affects not only the conductor and shielding, but the whole product architecture.
Siltech says all current Classic Legend models will transition to the new Classic Legend MKII range. That makes this not a small side update, but a generational replacement for one of the company's central product families. The overall direction is clear - keep the established Classic Legend concept, retain G9 silver-gold metallurgy, improve shielding and insulation, revise the connectors and create a broader, more coherent path into Siltech technology, beginning with the new 280 series.
Classic Legend earned its name by bringing serious Siltech engineering into a range that was more attainable than the company's most advanced cables. Classic Legend MKII continues that idea, but with a more developed internal structure and a wider starting point. For existing Siltech users, it marks the next version of a familiar cable family. For listeners discovering the brand for the first time, it may become the most direct way to experience the company's silver-gold approach without entering the Crown or Master Crown levels. Siltech has not yet published detailed pricing for the Classic Legend MKII series, but the new range is expected to occupy the same broad high-end segment as the previous Classic Legend family, with pricing depending on model level, cable type, length and termination.
