Klipsch ProMedia Lumina
Klipsch has introduced the ProMedia Lumina, a new 2.1-channel desktop speaker system that updates one of the company's longest-running multimedia audio platforms with revised acoustics, expanded connectivity, and integrated lighting control. Positioned as the successor to earlier ProMedia configurations first introduced in 1999, the Lumina version adapts the concept for contemporary desktop environments used for gaming, content creation, remote work, and everyday listening. The original ProMedia series established a distinctive position in the compact speaker category by incorporating horn-loaded high-frequency drivers, a feature rarely found in desktop audio systems. The new ProMedia Lumina continues this approach with updated MicroTractrix horn technology, now implemented in a wider geometry intended to improve dispersion and maintain clarity in nearfield listening conditions. Each satellite speaker uses a two-way configuration with a 3-inch midrange driver designed to support dynamic output and intelligibility across mixed-use scenarios ranging from voice communication to music playback and gaming.
Low-frequency reproduction is handled by a slim ported subwoofer featuring a side-firing 6.5-inch driver and an integrated low-noise amplifier. The upright cabinet format allows flexible placement under desks or alongside workstations while maintaining usable internal volume for bass extension. A rear gain control provides adjustment of low-frequency output, and an integrated cable-management compartment helps reduce clutter in compact setups.
Connectivity reflects the system's intended role as a flexible desktop hub rather than a single-purpose PC speaker set. The ProMedia Lumina supports Bluetooth 5.3 wireless streaming alongside USB-C and 3.5 mm analog inputs, allowing integration with computers, mobile devices, and game consoles without additional adapters. Automatic power synchronization with connected PCs enables auto-on and auto-off operation, simplifying everyday use in workstation environments.
Control options extend beyond hardware buttons on the satellite speakers. The system is compatible with the Klipsch Connect Plus mobile application for Android and iOS devices and, for the first time in the ProMedia lineup, also supports the Klipsch Control App for Windows. Together, these interfaces provide access to multiple sound-tuning features including Music and Movie listening modes, a six-band equalizer, Virtual Surround processing, and a Night Mode designed to reduce bass output and overall playback level during late-evening listening sessions.
Lighting integration forms another part of the updated design. Each satellite includes six embedded LEDs offering several selectable ambient illumination profiles as well as music-reactive behavior controlled through the companion apps. Additional desktop-specific features include Screen React mode, which samples colors from display edges and mirrors them through the speaker lighting system, and Dynamic Lighting support in Windows 11 environments for synchronization with compatible RGB peripherals across a broader desktop ecosystem.
Physically, the ProMedia Lumina introduces a revised cabinet aesthetic finished in a Carbon wood-grain vinyl surface together with tiltable speaker stands intended to improve positioning flexibility in nearfield listening setups. These changes reflect the system's shift toward mixed productivity and entertainment environments rather than purely gaming-focused configurations.
Founded in 1946, Klipsch is known for loudspeaker designs based on horn-loaded driver technology developed by Paul W. Klipsch. Over the decades the company has expanded its catalog to include home-theater speakers, wireless audio systems, headphones, and desktop solutions, with the ProMedia series representing one of its longest-running product families in the multimedia speaker category. The Klipsch ProMedia Lumina is available now at a suggested retail price of $379/€399. Info and photos by Klipsch.
