FiiO EH11

FiiO has introduced the EH11, lightweight on-ear Bluetooth headphones that combine styling inspired by portable audio designs from the 1980s with features typical of contemporary mobile devices. It is an unusual proposition, because instead of pretending to be a miniature version of studio monitors or another wireless gadget in a minimalist shell, the EH11 openly plays the retro card. The headphones have a compact, slim structure, several colorful finish options and distinctive wooden control elements, while still offering Bluetooth 6.0, LDAC support, dual-device connection and up to 30 hours of battery life.

The EH11 shows a slightly different side of FiiO. Rather than fighting for attention with specifications alone, the company has chosen a form that immediately sets these headphones apart from typical Bluetooth models. The design is inspired by classic portable audio, but it is not a simple attempt to copy old solutions. The EH11 is intended as a pair of everyday headphones - light, mobile and easy to use, but with a clearly defined visual character. A particularly important role is played by the physical rotary controls integrated into the earcups. Volume adjustment and track selection are handled with knobs, a detail that refers back to older audio devices while also distinguishing the EH11 from models based almost entirely on touch panels or tiny buttons. "The EH11 is a product that combines nostalgia with everyday convenience. We wanted to create headphones that make you smile at first sight, and then surprise you with their sound" - the company says in its press materials.

Sound is handled by a 40 mm dynamic driver with a high-damping composite diaphragm. According to FiiO, this design is intended to deliver a full, lively presentation with solid bass, a rich midrange and a musical character suited to everyday listening. The semi-open acoustic structure is also important. It is designed to reduce the closed-in sensation often associated with small on-ear headphones and give the presentation a more open, spacious quality. In practice, this means the EH11 is not being positioned as a headphone that shuts the listener off from the outside world at all costs, but rather as a light, city-friendly model for music at work, on a walk, while traveling or at home.

On the connectivity side, the EH11 uses Bluetooth 6.0 and supports LDAC, allowing wireless transmission at a higher quality than basic Bluetooth codecs. FiiO points to the larger amount of data transmitted wirelessly, improved detail, cleaner vocals and a more refined sound when listening from a smartphone or computer. Dual-device connection is another practical feature, making it easier to switch between a phone and a laptop without disconnecting and pairing the headphones again every time. The model also works with the FiiO Control app, which gives users access to sound adjustment options and additional settings.

The FiiO EH11 weighs just 92 g, placing it firmly among the lightest on-ear Bluetooth headphones in its class. A full charge takes 2 hours, while the built-in battery provides up to 30 hours of playback. The model is available in several finishes, including transparent, off-white, cyan, burgundy and transparent black. The EH11 is already available in selected markets, with pricing listed at $29.99/€32.99/£32.99. Info and photos by FiiO.
