Nothing Ear (3)
Nothing has unveiled its latest generation of True Wireless Stereo earphones, the Ear (3), redefining how compact audio devices can look and perform. Designed to 'cut through the noise', the new model introduces a breakthrough Super Mic system, adaptive noise reduction, and a refined metal-infused design that elevates the brand's signature transparent aesthetic to new levels of sophistication. The Ear (3) embodies Nothing's vision of blending high-end engineering with expressive design. Its most striking innovation is the Super Mic - a dual-microphone system built into the charging case. Activated via the TALK button, it filters out up to 95 dB of ambient noise, ensuring crystal-clear voice capture even in challenging environments. The same system can be used for quick voice notes - pressing TALK records directly from the case to Nothing's Essential Space, where notes are automatically synced and transcribed using Nothing OS.
Each earbud is equipped with three directional microphones and a Voice Pick-up Unit that detects micro-vibrations from the jawbone and ear canal, transforming them into electrical signals to isolate the user's voice. This setup, supported by an AI-based multi-channel noise reduction engine trained on over 20 million hours of real-world audio, suppresses wind noise by more than 25 dB. The result is exceptional vocal clarity whether you are in a busy street, on a call, or recording.
Adaptive Noise Cancellation in the Ear (3) continuously analyses ambient sound up to 45 dB and recalibrates every 600 milliseconds, while monitoring ear fit every 1875 milliseconds. This real-time system maintains consistent isolation on the move, dynamically adjusting the sound profile to the user's environment. Acoustically, the Ear (3) features upgraded 12 mm dynamic drivers with patterned diaphragms offering 20% more radiating surface than the previous generation. This design enhances low frequencies by up to 6 dB and treble by up to 4 dB, resulting in a more expansive soundstage with richer midrange detail and crisp, natural highs. Combined with the adaptive processing, the earphones deliver a balanced yet energetic signature tuned for both precision and musicality.
The new design remains unmistakably Nothing but with a stronger, more refined character. The transparent casing reveals the intricate internal structure, complemented by polished metal elements. A newly engineered Metal-Isolator-Metal antenna, just 0.35 mm thick, increases transmission power by 15% and signal sensitivity by 20%, ensuring a stable and responsive wireless connection. The charging case is crafted entirely from 100% recycled aluminium, manufactured through 27 precision processes. A nanoinjection technique fuses metal and polymer without adhesives, creating a durable unibody enclosure with tight tolerances and seamless finish.
Battery life has been extended to 10 hours of playback per charge (a 90-minute improvement over the previous model) and up to 38 hours with the case. Ten minutes of USB-C charging delivers up to 10 hours of listening, while wireless charging adds further convenience. Connectivity is powered by Bluetooth 5.4 with LDAC for high-resolution wireless transmission, and a low-latency mode reduces delay to under 120 milliseconds for gaming and video. The Ear (3) supports Google Fast Pair, Microsoft Swift Pair and seamless iOS pairing, with full control customisation available via the Nothing X app, including the ability to access Essential Space or ChatGPT directly from the earphones. Both the earbuds and the case carry an IP54 rating for protection against dust, sweat and light rain, ensuring durability in everyday use.
