Marten Dexter Series

The idea behind Dexter is not to create an entry-level range in the usual sense, but to bring Marten's most advanced thinking into a wider variety of listening spaces. That is particularly important for a brand whose upper models often require not only serious electronics, but also large rooms and careful installation. Dexter appears to answer a more practical question - how much of Marten's current technical language can be transferred into loudspeakers that are easier to accommodate without abandoning the company's preference for highly specialized drivers, rigid cabinets and carefully controlled bass behavior.

All four models use the same pure diamond tweeter. According to Marten, this driver was developed from work done on the Coltrane Supreme Extreme, which gives the Dexter family a direct link to the company's flagship engineering. The larger models, Dexter Quintet and Dexter Quartet, are three-way designs combining that tweeter with a Marten ceramic midrange and Marten carbon fiber bass drivers. Dexter Trio and Dexter Duo use a simpler architecture built around a Marten ceramic mid/bass driver, again partnered with the same diamond tweeter used across the series.

The other major development is the Loaded Reflex Line, Marten's new bass loading system. It combines principles associated with bass reflex and transmission line designs, using a shaped internal channel and a wide downward-firing slotted port. The goal is to reduce air velocity, extend bass depth and make the loudspeakers less sensitive to placement than conventional rear-ported designs. In practical terms, this should make the Dexter models easier to integrate into real rooms, especially where placing speakers far from the rear wall is not possible or desirable.

Cabinet construction is another defining element of the range. The new M-Core enclosure uses a triple-layer structure, and the series' form is intentionally more restrained than some of Marten's larger statement products. The visual design shown in the press material is clean and architectural, with straight cabinet lines, exposed drivers and substantial isolation hardware. The Dexter Duo is a standmount design with a dedicated stand available separately, while the Trio, Quartet and Quintet are floorstanding models of increasing size and ambition.

Marten is also offering a Statement Edition for all four models. This version upgrades the internal wiring from Jorma Duality to Jorma Statement and adds improved crossover components. The option underlines the position of Dexter within the company's catalog - this is not a lifestyle-oriented family, but a serious passive loudspeaker line whose performance can be raised further through internal component upgrades.

The series opens with Dexter Duo, a compact standmount loudspeaker priced from €20,900 per pair without stands in the True Grain Oak finish. A dedicated stand with Marten Isolators will be available separately, though its price has not yet been confirmed. The Statement Edition upgrade for Dexter Duo adds €4900. Above it sits Dexter Trio, priced from €32,900 per pair, with the Statement Edition adding €6900.

Dexter Quartet is positioned as the smaller of the two three-way floorstanding designs and starts at €42,900 per pair, with the Statement Edition priced at an additional €7900. Dexter Quintet is the largest model in the series and starts at €49,900 per pair, with the Statement Edition adding €8900. All base prices refer to the True Grain Oak finish.

Finishes are an important part of the Dexter concept. The range is available in True Grain Oak, Piano Walnut, Matte Walnut and Piano Black. True Grain Oak is new to Marten and exclusive to Dexter, using an open-grain oak surface intended to feel more natural and tactile than a conventional high-gloss veneer. The walnut finishes have also been developed specifically for this range, chosen for depth of grain and a restrained visual character, while Piano Black provides the more classic high-gloss option.

Marten is a Swedish loudspeaker manufacturer founded in 1998 and based in Molndal, Sweden. The company designs and assembles its loudspeakers at its own facility, with drivers developed in-house. Its catalog includes the new Dexter series as well as the Oscar, Parker, Mingus and Coltrane ranges, topped by the flagship Coltrane Supreme Extreme. Marten is known for its use of ceramic and diamond drivers, carefully engineered cabinets and close ties to high-end Swedish cable manufacturer Jorma. The Dexter series made its public debut at High End Vienna 2026, where Dexter Quintet and Dexter Duo were demonstrated in full for the first time outside Marten's own facility, while Dexter Quartet and Dexter Trio were shown in static display.
