British manufacturer of audiophile audio electronics introduces the Z20 DAC which is a part of a new series called Mini Z. These little units are designed to have exceptional musicality, richness of tone color and compact size - exactly half the width of a typical hi-fi equipment. The new transmitter uses a high-grade Cirrus Logic CS4398 converter used in top MX series players, as well as low noise, double-differential analog filter. USB receiver isolates the device from the effect of computer clock jitter. The housing of the unit is made of steel, with aluminum decorative front.
When it comes to functionality, we can find digital optical and coaxial input, USB type B input for PC connection, dual output (two pairs of RCA connectors) and a communication system called My Link. Myryad supports dedicated drivers for Windows 7, 8, Vista and XP. The converter also works with Mac OS-X. All inputs support digital signal in all formats up to 24 bit/192 kHz. Quite a promissing unit from a company found by former employees of brands such as Arcam or NAD. The Z20 will be priced at £599. Photos by Myryad.
