Octavio AMP

French company Octavio has created a compact network amplifier built for audiophiles and music lovers who appreciate modern solutions at an affordable price. The founders of the young manufactory say they wanted to democratize hi-fi and simplify the stereo system and the process of using it. The company was born in two student apartments in Lille. Its founders, David and Victor, owned vintage audio systems whose sound they greatly appreciated, but which were not compatible with new formats, digital sources, or streaming services. So they both faced the same problem - how to preserve the quality of their hi-fi setup while easily taking advantage of the latest innovations? The idea of parting with their existing system was unimaginable to them. What if the solution was simply to upgrade it rather than replace it? After months of designing and testing, they created a device that made their dream come true. After a successful crowdfunding campaign, Octavio was born.

Designed to bridge the gap between yesterday's and tomorrow's music, the Octavio AMP combines all the essential features of an amplifier. It has a complete set of jacks, such as analog RCA inputs, digital optical, subwoofer, phono, and - of course - speaker inputs. The whole thing was thought out so that the amplifier has all the essentials without wasting money on the unnecessary. Thanks to its many connectors, the Octavio AMP will easily connect to all multimedia devices. The French ensure that its design goes beyond the boundaries of classic hi-fi to meet the demands of not only vinyl lovers, but also movie fans. With its sleek, minimalist 20 x 20 cm cabinet, the Octavio AMP will easily find a place in any home.

The amplifier pumps up 2 x 65 watts (4 Ω) and 2 x 35 watts (8 Ω), so it can drive most speaker systems on the market. An external power supply provides greater flexibility and durability. Customers who need to increase output power will simply be able to buy a more powerful power supply, doubling the amplifier's output. Octavio AMP's electronics are equipped with proprietary Sound Filter technology, which analyzes the audio signal at the input and compares it with the output signal before sending it to the speakers to remove any potential noise or interference, go to guarantee clear and accurate sound.

Octavio Amp is compatible with a wide range of audio formats, such as FLAC, OGG, ALAC, WMA, APE, MP3, ensuring high fidelity audio distribution. The internal DAC supports signals up to 24 bit/192 kHz. Most impressive, however, for such a young company, is the connectivity and streaming section. We can listen to music via Octavio's proprietary Virtuose mobile app, or stream it directly via Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, or Apple Music thanks to AirPlay 2 compatibility. UPnP technology allows users to access their personal music library, and in addition to Wi-Fi/Ethernet access, there's Bluetooth on board. Octavio assures that the Virtuose app is designed to be easy to use. Indeed, it looks really good, as does the amplifier itself, which could become a serious competitor to the likes of the Yamaha WXA-50, Bluesound Powernode, Pro-Ject Maia S2, or Sonos Amp. The Octavio AMP has been priced at €699. Info and photos by Octavio.
